Kenley Collins — There is Just No Stopping this Designer!

It amazes me how much this young talent can do — coming out with yet another collection, which now even includes menswear, still designing stunning and sexy pieces for the young pop starlet, Ariana Grande, and just to throw some fun in the mix, designing looks for the windows of various It’Sugar candy stores. Kenley Collins‘ latest collection has been out a few weeks now, but great work still deserves recognition. So just like her past collections — Grease “Pink Ladies” & Marilyn Monroe-inspired line — I am here to now write about her PopArt collection.

(Pop Cassettes printed Crop-top & pencil skirt, and a black Holly Golightly dress)

The one aspect of Kenley’s work that I always love and commend, is that no matter what the underlying theme of the line is, you can always tell when you are wearing a Kenley original. She has such a unique and distinctive voice and aesthetic within her designs. You can see it in the cut, the silhouette, the dynamic prints, and more! And I always feel there is something for everyone — dresses, separates, accessories, bathing suits, and more! Also now, that “something for everyone” includes men! Yes, you heard it right, now those bold Kenley prints can also be rocked by any man who dares and I say WHY NOT!

10360609_10201913908076361_3861540416036137619_n                                  c2-abbcc2ad880490602ba81c96bdaaf372

You can always shop online (always some great sales going on!) for stunning Kenley originals or, if you are in NYC, you can head over to Brooklyn and shop for her pieces at Slapback. Taking a closer look at the menswear pieces, there are a lot of fun selections — from the Cool Rider tie to the Pop Cassettes printed shirt to the Ronnettes Rose printed shirt to the Citrus Squeeze tie (all seen in the image above). But of course, there is even more fun in store for the ladies!

With the above picture, the look on the right, we have the Ronettes Rose crop-top & circle skirt, which brings us to some very versatile SEPARATES!!

(Watermelon Supreme top & skirt and Shangri-Las top & shorts)

And so as mentioned above, aside from being so creative, always coming out with chic collections, Kenley also manages to make custom outfits for pop sensation Ariana Grande. So it’s highly likely if you’ve seen Ariana perform lately, she was wearing a Kenley custom original!!

Also, and this is very Project Runway-esque, she is still whipping up unconventional materials looks, specifically candy, to liven up the windows of It’Sugar candy stores- SUPER FUN & EXCITING!!

KENLEY, YOU WILL FOREVER HAVE A FAN OF YOUR WORK WITH FASHION NEXUS!! & I’m sure my readers will enjoy seeing what you’ve been up to and we all can’t wait to see what’s next!

Sydney Evan — Back at Bergdorfs — Custom Charm Bar!!

The stunning and unique jewelry brand — Sydney Evan — is back at Bergdorf Goodman this week for its annual Custom Charm Bar event. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of attending this event last year, meeting the kind and talented founder of the brand, Rosanne Karmes, and later fully featuring Sydney Evan on Fashion Nexus! I encourage all of my readers, if you are in NYC, to check out this event; there is still time to head over tomorrow to check out all of the brand’s wonderful charms!

Bergdorfs is located at 754 5th Ave. The event will begin at 12 pm and will end at 6 pm. The purpose behind the event is so that —  jewelry enthusiasts and Sydney Evan fans will have the opportunity to work alongside designer Rosanne Karmes to create their very own personalized Sydney Evan beaded bracelet and/or necklace. When I attended last year, Rosanne worked so patiently and attentively to each of her guests. It was truly a fun occasion! Here are some pics I took last year —

The custom bead bar will offer a variety of 14k gold and pave diamond charms to choose from, including the brand’s signature spiritual styles like hamsas and evil eyes, lucky symbols, new zodiac charms, and Sydney Evan’s celebrity coveted “Love” word charms; paired with a rainbow of beaded bracelets or beaded lariats made from semiprecious beads or varying length chain necklaces.  Karmes will be on site to help customers create their very own custom creation that represents their personal style, which will be available for pick up within 24 hours of ordering.

And remember, even if you can’t make the event, Sydney Evan can still be purchased online or in various retailers across the U.S., or even international retailers. Sydney Evan is a true trend-setting luxurious jewelry brand. And you can rest assure that when purchasing any Sydney Evan pieces you are purchasing only the highest of quality. You can even check out the great deal of press the brand has rightfully received since its inception, from major editorial spreads in Nylon, Harrods, Cosmo, Bazaar, People, and more, to  a major celeb following and fan base — J. Lo., Mila Kunis, Emma Stone, Lea Michele, Bar Rafaeli, Hilary Duff, Kate Hudson, Lauren Conrad, & more!

Sydney Evan really seeks to satisfy each and every customer. If you have any questions there are a myriad of ways to communicate, including on social media-Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. So enjoy the event if you attend or just browsing the Sydney Evan website!

Best Looks Round-Up: 2014 Tony Awards & Spike Guys’ Choice

Lots of great looks to go thru from this past week or so! First up, the 2014 Tony Awards, which aired on CBS!

1402268957_kelli-ohara-560      KELLI O’HARA

Kelli certainly gets my top pick of the night — looking ethereal and angelic in this custom blush pink Narcisco Rodriguez gown. Coordinating perfectly with this soft look are some exquisite golden jewelry pieces from Fred Leighton — drop earrings, ruby ring, and bracelet. And finally, still keeping with the “soft” style for the night is a subtle yet lovely make-up job, provided by Tanya Rae — light smoky eye, slightly rosy cheeks, and a nude lip.

Shimmers and sparkles were a common trend of the night, but I say the golden shimmer and sparkle, provided by Anna, wins the night! She looks ahhhhhhhh GOLDEN in this column Jenny Packham dress, complete with a brocade print, belted waist, and intricate adornment at the neckline. The “golden” styling continues on to Anna’s accessory selections for the evening — gold clutch, ear cuffs by Graziela Gems, and rings from EF Collection, EFFY jewelry, and Dana Rebecca Designs.

There is just something about this print I love so I applaud Beth for going bold in selecting it. Bold prints can be hard to pull of, but it works here. Carolina Herrera does an amazing job with making prints work, especially in this mermaid skirt dress with a bowtie detailing at the waist.

Theia designs always seem to catch my eye on the red carpet and so I’m glad to see the brand’s presence at the Tony’s, as worn on Anika. This navy blue gown is just so beautiful — the lace sheer cutout at the waist and slightest train are the perfect touches!

1402273934_leighton-meester-560                                        LEIGHTON MEESTER

Leighton may have moved from the UES to the Broadway district, but she sure has not lost her Blair-esque style! I love this fitted white T-shirt Antonio Berardi gown — the fit, the capped sleeves, such a classic silhouette and style. Leighton’s overall aesthetic for this look appears to be simplistic minimalism and it continues with her accessories — Jacob & Co. jewelry (silver bracelet), black Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Emm Kuo clutch.

21f821b0-ef62-11e3-85e7-ad332b3d1ac0_Thalia                       THALIA

Not sure of any of the designer details for Thalia, but this short, sassy, and sweet # certainly deserves some recognition!!

I love Patricia’s look; she looks so youthful and vibrant. Her choice for the evening, a dramatic and fiery red, strapless Dolce & Gabbana — what a fit! And also quite fitting are the chic silver Chopard jewelry pieces worn — bracelet, ring, and earrings.

1402269861_judith-light-560   JUDITH LIGHT

Judith’s character on the Dallas reboot drives me crazy, but her look on the Tony’s red carpet, I love! It is such and elegant and classy choice — this long sleeved, fitted lace gown by Randi Rham.

JENNIFER HUDSON — While missing from the red carpet pics, Jennifer still donned an amazing look for the evening’s festivities so I had to include her on my best dressed list! This silver beaded and embellished gown from Kaufmanfranco is a stunner.

TINA FEY — Another miss from the red carpet, but still looking lovely as ever is Tina, so again, this look is a must-include!! This fit and flare detailed Oscar de la Renta gown is simply gorgeous. And Tina keeps the jewelry to a minimal effect — rings, bracelet, and earrings — all by Fred Leighton.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS & DAVID BURTKA — And no best dressed list is complete without a few dapper gentlemen. NPH & David look handsome in their Tom Ford classic black tuxes!

Moving on now from the Tony’s, let’s take a look at some super HOTT looks from the 2014 Guys’ Choice Awards, presented by Spike TV.

main.original.585x0       JESSICA ALBA

Good Lord Jessica looks smokin’ in this David Koma LBD from the designer’s F/W 2014 collection. What is not to love here — the leather, the sheer cutouts, the detailed bodice!! To complete this phenomenal look Jessica chose the following accessories — strappy black Hugo Boss heels, a black rectangular DVF clutch, and some great jewelry pieces — rings from Melissa Kaye Jewelry and the Pearl Collective The Baroque Tahitian Pearl Spike Earrings ( a $225 value).

Spike TV's "Guys Choice 2014" - Arrivals

main.original.585x0      CHRISSY TEIGEN

The ladies of this red carpet certainly knew how to pull out all the stops when it came to looking super sexy and Chrissy certainly doesn’t disappoint. She looks A-freakin’-mazing in this sunshine yellow, strapless and asymmetrical Three Floor Aspen Dress ( a $232 value). Her accessories are on point as well — a gold Kotur Morley Croc-Embossed Box Clutch ($450 value); Casadei Gladiator Stiletto Sandals ($890 value); and jewelry by Carla Amorim and Melinda Maria.

main.original.585x0       LILY ALDRIDGE

Lily also rocks an LBD, specifically a 10 Crosby Derek Lam dress from the designer’s F/W 2014 collection — strapless and slitted — looks great! And to top off the look, some statement making golden jewelry from Maiyet — necklace, bracelet and rings.

main.original.585x0           JAIME KING

Jaime, while still looking very sexy, brings a little sophistication to her look as well, with this black embellished Emilio Pucci mini from the brand’s VIP collection. She is keeping all things sleek and in silver, including her sparkly Edie Parker clutch, Christian Louboutin heels, and lots of great jewelry — diamond Loree Rodkin ring and vintage dangling Cartier earrings (which were made available by Beladora, an online boutique for authentic designer and vintage jewelry).

NINA AGDAL — Emilio Pucci is just so amazing, the designer is on my list twice, for the same event!! Nina rocks this black and white Pucci and adds the perfect pop of sky blue color with a belted waistline. And another nice finishing touch — Graziela Gem earrings.

2014 CMT Awards — Best Dressed on the Red Carpet

Here are my picks for the 2014 CMT Awards Best Dressed, designer details & all, ENJOY!

165_3091_350   JANA KRAMER

Bold and standout colors rule this CMT red carpet. And Jana’s hot pink Michael Costello # definitely sets the trend. The plunging neckline and flowing train make Jana look like a sexy glam princess and I love it! To complete her exquisite look are some glam diamond jewelry pieces — L’Dezen bracelet, Jacob and Co. drop earrings, and Le Vian rings. And it’s very hard to overlook just how beautiful Jana looks, amazing makeup job by Kelsey Deenihan & from stylist Lo VonRumpf.

165_3098_350                           kellie-pickler-290

KELLIE PICKLER — It’s always great to see the red carpet brightened with splashes of color. The black and white #’s are nice and all, but bold colors, such as Kellie’s choice with this Lorena Sarbu column gown, with side cutouts and a plunging neckline, is perfection. The color of the gown is very close to the Pantone 2014 Color of the Year — radiant orchid. Paired perfectly with this purple orchid hue are some lovely silver & shimmery accessories — Thale Blanc clutch & TACORI jewelry (diamond earrings & a ring).

I love this new type of look for Miranda on the red carpet. I’ve seen full on glam and sparkling mini’s, but this taupe Celia Kritharioti mini is sort of a combo of both. It’s got some glam and sex appeal with all of the amazing details to pull together the look — plunging neckline, embellishments, gold belt, and sheer shoulders. Miranda also does no wrong in the accessories dept. either — stunning silver Manolo Blahnik sandal heels, coordinating taupe Tyler Alexandra clutch, and diamond jewelry from both Yeprem and Djula (earrings and rings).

2014 CMT Music Awards - Arrivals

KIMBERLY PERRY —  Sexy and simple white frocks is yet another trend on the CMT red carpet and Kimberly is definitely the trendsetter for this style. This spaghetti strapped ruffled mini is a stunner!

Keeping with the ever-popular trend of the night, another white dress, fitted & sexy, with sheer panels at the neckline — looks great!!

brooklyn-decker-white-dress-cmt-music-awards-2014-h724                    BROOKLYN DECKER

So sad that Brooklyn’s show FWBL is now off the air, but very happy to see that such sad and bad news doesn’t hold her back from rocking the red carpet! White dresses were all the rage on the CMT red carpet and Brooklyn falls right in line with making this look work with a feminine and ladylike Jill Stuart knee-length dress. It is available for purchase on Shopbop. It’s a simplistically chic look for the evening’s festivities and keeping that in mind, she continues the style to her accessories, going black with classic pumps from Manolo Blahnik and Kendra Scott drop earrings.

2014 CMT Music Awards - Arrivals

My CMT red carpet best dressed list would not be complete without the presence of this dynamic duo’s red carpet consistency. They always look great, super sexy, and in sync. I’m glad to see this knockout pair grace my list yet again!

MARY SARAH — I can’t lie — I’m not very familiar with Mary, but I will figure that out later. For my best dressed lists, I don’t care who you are, if you look great, you will make my list; it’s all about the style! Mary did great by seemingly taking a bit from 2 major trends of the night — keeping with a white dress, but adding at least the bold splash of color with her ankle-strapped heels.

Love seeing a little something different on the red carpet and for me, that is Danielle — crop top look, very popular trend right now, fun printed skirt, just overall a very youthful look for this country darling!

Another stunning red carpet duo, simplistically minimalistic looks and quite fitting for the night!

Another quick red carpet shout-out, 2014 Glamour Women of the Year Awards

main.original.585x0      ALEXA CHUNG

Alexa looks majorly chic in this Christian Dior dress with a sheer embroidered bodice from the brand’s Resort 15 collection.

2014 CFDA Awards — All the Glitz & Glam!

Check out my best dressed list for the CFDA Awards‘ red carpet. Also, at the conclusion of my piece, the full list of winners from the night’s festivities!

whitney-port-600x800WHITNEY PORT

Ahhhhh, Whitney looks AMAZING!! I’m loving the black & white looks at the CFDA’s, but especially this Dennis Basso knee-length creation. But as we all know, the look never stops at just the dress, here is the breakdown for the remainder of her look — black closed heels by Nicholas Kirkwood; jewelry by Eddie Borgo and Ilana Ariel; clutch by Rafe New York; Katie Jane Hughes of Butter London for makeup (Butter London’s orange “Lady Bird”) and nails (“Yummy Mummy”); Neil Gogoi for hair (super sleek straight look w/ the aide of EVO’s “Root Canal” spray in for volume and worked through the line’s “Easy Tiger” smoothing balm before drying); and stylist Lara Backmender. I’m a huge fan of the Butter London Yummy Mummy nail color as well, so nice to see I amongst some fashion elite when using!

whitney-port-5                                        whitney-port-3Here are some of my beauty/nail looks in the Butter London “Yummy Mummy” color, also pictured a golden snake ring from nOir Jewelry, an Ashlyn’d clutch, an American Eagle silver bow ring, and a mint green Francesca’s clutch.

DSC02674                                                                        DSC00454

I don’t see Busy enough on the red carpet to have ever included her on one of my best dressed lists, so when I see her looking so divine, I MUST include her! This red halter-necked Honor gown, in flaming red, is very Victorian-esque, but you know, with the CFDA red carpet, there can be a little dramatic flare. I mean hey, Rihanna, was wearing a blinged do-rag, so for me, this is at least fashionable flare! The statement making necklace chosen to complete Busy’s looks is from Irene Neuwirth.

I was so shocked I enjoyed the twins’ looks as much as I did. Don’t get me wrong — I love these ladies and am happy for all of their fashion success with The Row & Elizabeth and James. But sometimes I don’t completely get their red carpet looks. However here, I’m seeing totally chic, well put together looks by both ladies! Ashley’s long-sleeved black dress is courtesy of her own brand, The Row. Mary Kate’s looks is as well, but her black Nymphette sandal heels are from Christian Louboutin.

coco-rocha-290     COCO ROCHA

I’m definitely about the drama and high-fashion in this black and white # Coco is donning. It is full on glam and I love all the details in this Christian Siriano look — the strapless neckline, the intricate pattern on the skirt, & more! And of course there would be no drama to this look without the black hat by Heather Huey. Coco’s whole look is just major drama, including her bold beauty look & slick do, both from hair & makeup artist Veronica Chu.

CHANEL IMAN — Chanel looks exquisitely glam in this fitted black look courtesy of Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2014 collection, complete with sheer netted long sleeves & cutouts at the plunging neckline. A diamond ring from Graziela Gems and earrings from Effy were the perfect touch to finish this look off.

10371522_10152436459479076_8815412910860031584_n                                                                        chanel-iman-joan-smalls-cfda-awards-2014-02

1401810229_heidi-klum-560_640   HEIDI KLUM

Heidi is usually wearing too much, or I guess I should say too little, for me to generally call her a “best dressed.” But in this reserved pale tangerine Donna Karan gown, with a deep-V neck, I have to say I really like the look. This gown is actually part of DK’s 2015 Resort collection. This is a great color and I like that the look is not so “in your face.” I think she should keep on this path of still looking sexy, but also very high-fashion & high-class! Her jewelry is from Lorraine Schwartz. And coordinating in addition, quite nicely, are Heidi’s remaining accessories, clutch & shoes, both from Jimmy Choo.

heidi-klum-290                                                 image

Blake just seems to be unstoppable as of late when it comes to ruling on the red carpet. And she has done it here again in this olive Michael Kors mini with pale pink embellishments. Her major hoop earrings are by Lorraine Schwartz. I have to also say, I love her rose pink Casadei heels since I too have a very similar pair, but mine are from Lauren Conrad’s exclusive Kohl’s collection. So if you like these shoes, I can assure you, LC’s are lower in price and very good quality!

about2                                                 image

HILARY RHODA — Lace can be very hit or miss nowadays. It use to be all the rage, the trend to wear, but now, for me, it’s become a bit riskier to actually pull off. But no worries for Hilary in this bright & colorful pink & tangerine hue, semi-sheer J. Mendel gown.

cfda-06                                 chanel-iman-joan-smalls-cfda-awards-2014-06

2014 CFDA Fashion Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

These lovely ladies are the design team behind the statement-making jewelry brand DANNIJO. The pictures below show some better shots of them, also pictured are Hilary Rhoda and Sophia Bush. So it is my guess then that all of the ladies’ accessories, even to clutches, are courtesy of DANNIJO! I named Hilary best dressed above so this goes for her look as well.

STACEY BENDET — I’m not jumping up and down over Beth Behr’s look from Alice + Olivia, but assuming designer for the brand, Stacey Bendet, is wearing A + O as well, then this look is definitely worth making mention of and including on my best dressed list. More black and white and also reminding me of my own black and white leather look, courtesy of A + O!

1452347_10201906653643315_1999888071_n1                                        10412031_10152436458609076_886020956963994620_n

JAMES MARSDEN — I need a best dressed guy on my list right! So I pick James, who looks very handsome in this classic black tuxedo suit by Todd Snyder.
