“THE” Red Carpet Trends of the 2015 Award Season

The 2015 Award Season is in full swing, with the Golden Globes, Peoples Choice Awards, SAGs, Critics Choice, and more having already come and gone. There are still a few more award shows coming up though, a few on the country music scene, and of course heavy-hitters with the Oscars and Grammys. I have highlighted 9 red carpet trends during the 2015 award season, and I’m sure these trends will continue to be seen with the award shows still remaining.

What I’ve also done is found a way you can bring these red carpet trends to your own world. Fashion Nexus has had such fun collaborating with Mac Duggal, home of stunning designer dresses & gowns for red carpets, prom, homecoming and more. So if you want to dress like the stars for Prom 2015, or take on a major red carpet trend for a formal event of your own, trust Mac Duggal has plenty to offer!

#1 — BLACK & WHITE

Black and white individually are always seen on any red carpet. But this award season, the 2 hit colors have been paired quite frequently, especially dominating at the 2015 Peoples Choice Awards. Kat McPhee, Olivia Munn, Kaley Cuoco, Shaun Robinson, Sarah Paulson, and more all rocked this trend. And it was great seeing this color combo across a vast array of gowns.

Spring is not yet here, but flowers have certainly been blooming on the red carpet. It’s been seen in subtle neutral tones, paired with black, and bright hues.

#3 — RED — HOT, HOT, HOT!

Generally, I’m not a fan of naming a standalone color as a red carpet trend. Why? Because of course you are going to see almost any given color on the red carpet, and likely across several shows, that color will pop up more than once. But clearly, red looks have been all over the place, and way more than just a handful of times. Red especially dominated at the 2015 Golden Globes.

Blush, soft pink, close to nude tones, always very gorgeous on the red carpet, and certainly brings an elegant factor to any lovely lady donning this hue.

#5 — JUMPSUITS

jumpsuits

I love jumpsuits, so great seeing them on the various red carpets. Not sure if we will see any for the Oscars, but I imagine another few will pop up here and there as award season continues.

You are going to see white dresses on red carpets — it’s a given. But one trend I’ve noticed specifically with white looks this award season, are dresses with plunging necklines — va va voom!

#7 — BLACK & SHEER COMBOS

Black is another given color choice for red carpets. But specifically what I’ve been seeing, black with sheer effects — overlays, necklines, and more!

#8 — ALL OVER SILVER, SHIMMER & SHINE

Think disco ball, or like with DWTS, the mirror ball trophy. These all over sparkling silver dresses have been all the rage. It’s not just the silver color, it’s about all of the glitz and glam, the sparkly beaded embellishments.

#9 — WHITE W/ HINTS OF SILVER

And finally, again with white, but this time, another little detail I’ve noticed, hints of silver embellishments, whether on the shoulder, the neckline, wherever it works best to add that needed sparkle.
