The fashion community and industry has certainly been in mourning this past week with the passing of acclaimed and renown fashion designer Oscar de la Renta. It’s such a shame that a lasting and long-lived career, surpassing the 50-year mark, has now sadly come to an end. The list of his many fashion achievements could go on and on. And his work will not soon be forgotten.
JACKIE KENNEDY
He has dressed numerous 1st ladies, Jackie Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, to name a few. He was highly sought after by A-list celebs for various red carpet events, including Amy Adams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Swift. High profile brides wanted their special day to include a de la Renta gown, such as Amal Clooney, Huma Abedin & Kate Bosworth. His work is certainly deserving of tribute and the highest accolade.
He did it all, from stunning and breathtaking dresses/gowns, of a more formal or eveningwear capacity, to that of daywear/RTW. Even his more day-type looks were of the highest luxurious quality. Oscar de la Renta built his legacy on a commitment to a value system constructed and maintained over time. He believed in hard work and the importance of appearance. He believed in beauty, not for beauty’s sake, but because he understood confidence could arise from merely wearing a garment.
