September Means Fashion, Fashion & More Fashion

Many know that of course in September, every year, that New York Fashion Week rolls around. It is a time where designers put on some great runway shows to present their collections for the next season, so for this September, its Spring of 2014. This year is no different, but I am excited to see that there are also some other great fashion shows to check out that are of a different variety. But first, back to NYFW,  Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has released the official schedule for shows occurring from Sept. 5th-12th.

This is a complete schedule, as released from MBFW. Most of the shows will occur at Lincoln Center. However, some shows are offered off-site and are listed as such. There are still some shows that can’t be found on this list, but would likely be occurring during this same time frame. I am excited to attend as many as I can and of course will do a write-up for each show that I attend! Even outside of attending shows, networking and just being at Lincoln Center during this week is a phenomenal experience. There are so many great attendees to meet, lots of vendors set up with samples/handouts and much more!

As far as specific shows, I am of course excited to see some presentations from designers I saw earlier this year as they presented their Fall 2013 collections. Candela, Monique Lhuillier, and Venexiana are just a few runway presentations that I am excited to see present again. There are also quite a few that I am hoping to attend for the 1st time-Project Runway finale designers, Rebecca Minkoff, Herve Leger by Max Azria, Zac Posen, DVF, Mathieu Mirano, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Badgley Mischka, Jenny Packham, Rachel Zoe, Nanette Lepore, Michael Kors, Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui and really so many more! Let’s face it, all of the shows would be great to attend and I imagine the collections will all be great. I wish the designers and their teams luck on these final few weeks as their final prep work is ongoing!

There are some other great events to report as well. I was not able to attend ENK’s recent trade shows, but there are 3 great events upcoming for September. ENK is the most exclusive trade show producer in the United States. It includes over 10,000 design companies/brands. I missed the Accessorie Circuit, which is a comprehensive women’s accessory and footwear exhibition featuring designer and fine jewelry, handbags, footwear, scarves, belts and gift items. There was then also, the Intermezzo collections, which is the perfect opportunity between the major women’s fashion markets for retailers to replenish all classifications of their ready-to-wear inventory — contemporary, denim, bridge and evening. These are some of the sneak peeks that were available!

So there was also Children’s Club, which is an international exhibition featuring every category of children’s clothing from newborn to age 12, layette items, fashion accessories, footwear, toys and gifts. Even missing the August exhibition, there is also in early October so that would be great to attend. Here are some sneak peeks though from the August shows.

There is a lot coming up though that I plan to be in attendance at and to fully report what I see and also take some great pictures of. First, there is TMRW, which is a showcase of tomorrow’s premier brands, highlighting fresh talent and exceptional quality. Then there is Coterie, which is an international fashion exhibition in the U.S. featuring contemporary to traditional women’s ready-to-wear. Finally, there is Sole Commerce, which is a trade show dedicated exclusively to upscale footwear and handbags with the best domestic and international retailers.

All in all, there is a lot coming up and I am excited to cover it all for Fashion Nexus!!
